The goal of the Dublin Jazz Book is to provide the city with a local collection of contemporary standards, and at the same time give international musicians some insight into the Dublin jazz scene at the present moment.
The compositions in the Dublin Jazz Book provide a sample of the work emerging from Dublin. It includes, side by side, the works of seasoned professionals and students, selected on an open-submission basis. Every composer who submitted at least one complete work is represented. Not all of the composers are from Dublin, or even Ireland, but they have all positively contributed to the musical culture of the city. It has been very exciting to receive the submissions over the course of the year, and to see such diverse work together in one place. It is now my pleasure to share the stack of charts that has been gathering on my piano with the world. If you enjoy this volume, then I encourage you to come and visit Dublin for yourself, and seek out some of the artists online. Please find information about the composers here on this website.
